日本では仏像を製作する際、木の繊維を壊さずに木材を割り裂く「鉈割り」という技法を使います。
今回その木材の断面の荒々しさに着目しました。
通常、表面材は機械で平坦に研磨するのが一般的ですが
鉈割りで生れる木の断面に生命力を表現する事に成功しました。
表面塗装は日本独自の漆を摺り込む「摺漆」という技法で独特の艶を持っています。
高級な商品を展示するショップ用ディスプレイ、大切な物を安置するリビング棚、ホテルなどのラグジュアリーな空間に馴染む収納棚と幅広い使い方が出来ます。
木が本来持っている生命力を感じていただければと思います。
